Modelling The Talyllyn Railway

Locomotive No 6 DOUGLAS

A model railway project to scale of 1:15 to recreate a detailed model of the Welsh narrow gauge railway's 0-4-0 well tank originally built by Andrew Barclay in Kilmarnock, Scotland.

The model utilizes an LGB 'G' Scale chassis originally from a 'Stainz' locomotive. The wheelbase is correct to the prototype but a few liberties are being taken with the chassis in order to accomodate the different valve gear configuration and electrical pickup 'skate'

Much of the construction is laser cut acrylic following drawing on Coreldraw with hand made detailing added, boiler detailing is turned in 'Tooling Board'.

The scale of 1:15 reflects the Talyllyn Railway track gauge of 2' 3".
